Comparison of AI Voice Agents on the market: Discover which platform best fits your business
February 17, 2026
Companies have been automating calls, managing virtual switchboards, and optimizing service flows for years. The difference now is that conversations are no longer limited to IVR menus or pre-recorded responses, voice is starting to “reason,” interpret, and make decisions.
In this landscape, platforms coexist with distinct approaches. Most come from the cloud telephony world, others emerge directly from conversational AI, and some have successfully combined both. Solutions like Megacall, Ringover, Cloudtalk, Retell, Vapi, and Aircall showcase this diversity of approaches, ranging from call management to voice agents capable of operating across complete processes.
In this article, we compare the main VoIP solutions with integrated AI voice agents.
Megacall
Megacall is a well-established VoIP solutions platform that has recently introduced a major innovation: creating your own AI-powered voice agent.
What is Megacall’s AI Voice Agent like?
Megacall’s virtual agent is an intelligent voice solution for call management, already integrated into the switchboard, allowing you to configure and control call flows from the very beginning.
By activating the virtual switchboard, you can access the AI Studio section, where you will create your AI voice agent, choosing from predefined templates to detailed behavior and knowledge settings. For example:
- Agent name and its extension within the switchboard.
- AI model and parameters to adjust response style.
- Initial greeting configuration.
- Transfer rules to indicate when the agent should hand the call over to humans or other scenarios.
- Voice and language selection.
- Custom knowledge bases with information on products, services, policies, instructions, etc.
- Ability to speak in more than 15 different languages.
- Set background noise to make it sound more realistic.
Megacall’s AI agent uses advanced artificial intelligence models at the same level as ChatGPT, giving the option to choose the model you prefer for the agent. This allows it to maintain conversations naturally, and parameters such as voice, speed, background noise, and more can also be adjusted to make it more realistic.
Beyond conversation, Megacall also allows adjusting fields in the AI agent to adapt as best as possible to the needs. We are talking about limits on simultaneous calls the agent can handle, maximum duration of each conversation, and waiting times.
Megacall’s AI voice agent is designed to manage real conversations and perform tasks that are useful for business processes. That is why we highlight some of its features that we find interesting:
- Answer calls at the configured extension—the AI agent’s extension.
- Divert calls and add logic according to rule conditions (for example, if a human operator is requested, transfer to a human agent).
- Manage calls outside business hours or during peak volumes. The agent provides information about products, services, etc., and records requests with all information for the team.
- Intelligent greeting.
- Answer typical questions and basic inquiries.
- Create agents with different personalities that adapt to each department for better customer service.
Is it possible to see a call history for the agents? Yes, the platform allows consulting the complete history of calls managed by each AI voice agent, just like with extensions within the switchboard. From the same AI Studio panel, in the Call History section, tracking can be done with information about duration and call transcriptions.
Megacall Voice Agent pricing
Perhaps the biggest advantage of Megacall’s voice agent is its low prices while maintaining service quality. This is because Megacall uses a flexible consumption-based model, especially suitable for small businesses and freelancers.
Therefore, costs may vary depending on the agent’s configuration (AI model), but calls handled by AI voice agents start from €0.07/min, paying for the actual conversation time.
If we compare it to other market solutions, Megacall does not separate telephony from AI. Many solutions depend on external integrations to have voice agents, whereas Megacall offers a unified environment where the switchboard and AI voice agents are on the same platform. This is much more convenient and also allows faster control over your agents.
Ringover
The Ringover platform, suitable for managing calls, messages, and video calls for sales and customer service teams, has added an AI voice agent called Airo, created specifically to handle incoming calls.
What is Ringover’s AI Voice Agent like?
Ringover’s voice agent is quite similar to any AI-powered agent. From its platform, it is possible to make the main adjustments for an AI agent: customizing aspects such as voice, choosing the language, initial greeting, conversation tone, and knowledge base used to respond to users.
AIRO -the virtual agent of Ringover- offers 24/7 service to handle calls throughout the day, respond naturally in multiple languages, and can transfer to an operator when needed. In addition, knowledge bases can be uploaded for the AI agent, provided you have administrator access on its Empower platform.
An important difference between Megacall and Ringover lies in implementation—how you access the AI agent. In Ringover, to use the AIRO voice agent, you must first be a user of its platform and then install the integration from the platform’s marketplace, which adds an additional step. Once installed, you will have access to all the functionalities of its AI voice agent. In Megacall, the virtual agent is natively part of the switchboard—nothing needs to be installed; you simply activate it and start creating your agent.
Pricing
The second difference is the pricing model. In Ringover, the use of the AI voice agent may depend on the subscribed plan. While it is possible to pay per use at €0.99/min, it can also be contracted via a plan that varies depending on the minutes needed—for example, 500 minutes for €225/month.
There is also a free demo to try AIRO, but to obtain it, you must fill out a contact form and schedule a call with an agent.
Cloudtalk
Cloudtalk is another software platform adding AI-driven systems and now includes an AI voice agent called CeTe, capable of handling incoming and outgoing calls with natural voice. This agent is designed to help manage calls efficiently within its platform.
What is Cloudtalk’s AI Voice Agent like?
CeTe can handle and make calls at any time, even outside working hours. This is a common feature in AI-driven voice agents, as bots can be set for 24/7 operation.
Initially, Cloudtalk’s virtual agent performs the basic functions typical of an AI agent: it manages calls 24/7, collects user information, answers frequently asked questions, and transfers calls to operators when needed. What sets Cloudtalk’s AI agent apart is its ability to support more than 60 languages and accents, although the option to customize tone and greetings follows the same pattern as the previous agents. It also syncs with the CRM to maintain a complete user history.
To test the virtual agent, it is necessary to schedule a phone demo via a form, which requires submitting contact details and waiting for the sales team to confirm the session. Currently, there is no public trial environment where users can interact directly with the agent, so practical evaluation depends on this commercial process. This can slow down technical validation if you want to quickly compare it with other market solutions that offer more direct trials or autonomous configurations.
Pricing
Cloudtalk’s AI voice agent pricing works based on a monthly capacity of included minutes, with monthly billing plus additional cost for exceeding minutes. That is, you choose a plan based on the included monthly minutes, with extra charges if minutes are exceeded, for example, the smallest plan is €350/month, including 1,000 minutes, with €0.50 per extra minute. Additional costs may apply if other AI tools available in other plans are selected.
Retell AI
Retell is a platform exclusively specialized in creating AI voice agents, focused on offering natural and dynamic conversations without the need for complex programming. It is a good option for having a variety of virtual agents; however, unlike solutions that combine a switchboard and agent in a single product, Retell does not include its own integrated virtual number service. This means it is necessary to connect the platform to existing telephony via SIP or external integrations to use the AI voice agent.
What is Retell AI’s Voice Agent like?
Retell stands out for offering flexible configuration and being oriented toward building AI voice agents, where interactions can be defined through visual flows, the agent’s language and voice can be adjusted, and custom knowledge bases can be established to provide responses aligned with the business’s real information. An interesting detail is the ability to add background ambient noise, a feature that, like in Megacall, helps make the call sound more natural and less artificial for the listener.
In terms of practical use, Retell is designed to automate processes such as appointment scheduling or managing informational calls, relying on language models capable of maintaining fluid conversations. Additionally, it integrates seamlessly with other telephony systems such as a CRM.
However, the platform has some limitations to consider. A significant one is the maximum number of voice agents that can operate simultaneously, which may be a restriction for companies with growth potential. This makes Retell better suited for projects or early automation phases rather than deployments where scalability is a critical factor.
Pricing
Retell uses a very common consumption-based pricing model for its AI voice agents—you pay for what you use. Costs may vary because additional components can be added depending on the agent’s configuration. This relates to the previous point, as expanding the agent’s capabilities involves additional costs. It should also be noted that Retell provides the AI agent service, but a virtual number from another provider must be contracted separately for the voice agent to connect and function.
Vapi
Vapi is a tool aimed at developers to build and manage AI voice agents that can make and receive automated phone calls with natural conversation, similar to what we have seen so far.
What is Vapi’s AI Voice Agent like?
Among the most relevant settings in Vapi, detailed control of voice components stands out. It is quite comprehensive but always with a developer-focused approach. It is also compatible with integrations from other systems, calendars, databases, all through APIs.
Vapi’s AI voice agents are standard AI agents capable of maintaining natural dialogue and providing context-aware responses. What mainly differentiates them is their native integration with internal systems, allowing the AI agent to work with real-time data through APIs. This enables the agent to hold conversations and perform tasks such as updating records in a CRM or checking schedule availability. Within the Vapi platform, there is a developer control panel where all AI voice agent configurations are performed.
A potential drawback of Vapi is that it is primarily designed for developers/programmers, so the learning curve can be challenging for new users, especially those without development knowledge. It is also not the most suitable option for small businesses or freelancers who are starting out and need something easier to understand but still useful.
Although it is quite comprehensive, it should also be noted that Vapi does not include telephony. Like Retell, it is necessary to contract virtual numbers from another provider to connect to the platform.
Pricing
Vapi’s pricing model is oriented toward pay-as-you-go consumption, meaning the final cost depends on multiple components, not just a single per-minute rate. Prices can start from $0.15 per minute, plus additional components such as telephony (virtual number), voice model usage, recognition services, and language model usage, which are billed separately.
Aircall
Aircall is clearly focused on companies with a high volume of calls. Traditionally, it is known for its call management tools and CRM integration, and it now also offers AI voice agents to support operators.
What is Aircall’s AI Voice Agent Like?
The AI voice agent interface is very user-friendly. Its panel is divided into sections: information about the agent’s profile, a general context block (for example, business name and description), initial greeting, farewell greeting, another block indicating the knowledge base, and finally, the option to set rules to teach the AI agent how to handle call transfers.
Among its most common settings, you can highlight greeting customization, welcome messages, predefined response options, AI-suggested voice tones, and transfer settings to operators as needed.
A positive point for Aircall is that, like Megacall, its AI agent is natively integrated into the platform. This means no additional installations are required. From a single location, you have access to both the voice agent and all other switchboard tools, exactly like Megacall. This is a great advantage because everything is within reach without needing to install the AI agent separately.
It is worth mentioning that, although it is an interesting platform, it is not aimed at small businesses or freelancers. It is more suited for companies with more complex needs, large teams, and high call volumes.
Pricing
Unlike Megacall, where the AI agent’s per-minute cost starts at €0.07, Aircall operates on monthly consumption tiers. That is, the per-minute price decreases as the contracted volume increases.
For example: if you consume between 1 and 500 minutes per month, the price would be €0.99/min; if you consume between 501 and 2,500 minutes per month, the price is €0.69/min; and if you exceed 2,501 minutes per month, it drops to €0.49/min.

Which AI Voice Agent is best for my business?
When evaluating AI agents for a business, several factors need to be considered: conversation quality, ease of setup, cost of using a virtual agent, and the ability to scale without complications.
The solutions we have reviewed throughout the article all offer solid options, but not all are designed to adapt easily to every type of company—whether due to extra costs, limited scalability, or the absence of virtual numbers.
Megacall stands out as a genuinely good option for any type of business because you can start small and gradually scale, adding extensions and agents. With integrated telephony, there is no need to contract an external provider to connect the voice agent. Additionally, since it is natively integrated with the PBX, you can access all its tools to make full use of the platform, leveraging both the AI capabilities and the virtual switchboard features.
Megacall is the ideal choice if you are looking for an AI agent that combines cost-effectiveness -you pay for what you use- with customization and scalability.
